"Books are sometimes windows, offering views of worlds that may be real or imagined. These windows are also sliding glass doors, and readers have only to walk through in imagination to become part of whatever world has been created."

– Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop

ABOUT

What started as a blog has grown into a movement. In 2018, Natalie Pipkin, a worldschooling mom of two, launched the Black Worldschoolers blog and Instagram page to share stories, resources, and reflections on education, travel, and the power of literature. Inspired by the need for greater access to culturally rich books, she expanded her vision, launching the Black Worldschoolers Mobile Bookstore online in December 2020—building toward her ultimate goal of a bookstore on wheels.

That dream became a reality in June 2022, and ever since, the Black Worldschoolers Mobile Bookstore has been rolling across the Midwest, bringing books, joy, and community to readers of all ages.

We exist to provide access and awareness to Black stories worldwide while creating excitement and engagement around reading. Our one-of-a-kind bookstore-on-wheels is available for private and community events, offering a unique literary experience that connects people with stories that celebrate Black life, heritage, and joy.
